CPD in Nice to Malta

This Conference@Sea sets sail across the Mediterranean, from the vibrant coastlines of Nice to the fortified city of Valletta, Malta’s capital, visiting historically rich ports on the Southern Mediterranean Sea. The journey of Silversea’s Silver Whisperer mimics a once important Medieval trade route which spans 3 countries from France to Italy, through to Malta. Along these waters, are many centres of history and thought that have shaped modern medicine, healthcare and the law. For example, we visit Tuscany which is the area where Da Vinci worked on the anatomical drawings which paved the way for a standard of medical illustration. The journey also visits Elba, the site of Napoleon’s first exile. There are many legal principles which have foundations in this region. For example, Civil Law is Derived from Roman and Napoleonic law. Intertwined in these rich legal and medical roots are diverse cultures, exceptional panoramas and varied cuisines to explore. It’s a blend of beautiful Mediterranean views and an insightful look into the foundations of the medical, legal, and dental professions, highlighting the lasting impact of these regions on these crucial fields.

This voyage showcases Nice’s azure coastlines whilst also delving deep into the heart of Italy and beyond, exploring the Mediterranean’s most picturesque and historically rich locales. Each meticulously curated stop on our journey is a chapter in a grand narrative that marries cultural richness, historical depth, and culinary excellence. Nice welcomes you with its brilliant-blue seawater and the timeless appeal of the Promenade des Anglais, inviting you to discover a world where beauty and culture converge amidst the city’s vibrant flower markets and artistic legacy, celebrated by the likes of Matisse and Picasso.

Sailing on to Portofino offers a taste of the authentic Riviera, Ligurian wines and delicacies, and panoramic views from the Church of San Giorgio. The area’s ambiance and breathtaking landscapes reveal the depth of its charm. Our journey then takes us to Porto Santo Stefano, a secluded gem of southern Tuscany where luxury meets wild beauty, and to Elba, where Napoleon’s historical exile unfolds into a paradise of glowing beaches and steep vistas.
Alghero, with its dramatic medieval walls and Catalan flare, offers a deep dive into Sardinia’s rich history and the pristine beaches of the Coral Riviera. The old town’s narrow streets, plush restaurants, and nearby archaeological sites invite exploration and discovery.Lipari Island, the largest of the Aeolian cluster with its laid-back atmosphere, delicious cuisine, and sparkling blue waters, while the volcanic wonder of the island and its rich historical tapestry captivate the imagination.
Trapani introduces the intense flavors and sun-soaked leisure of western Sicily, with its historical core, nearby archaeological treasures, and the picturesque salt marshes symbolizing the city’s rich heritage. The Egadi Islands, easily reached from Trapani, offer pristine beach days and sunset spectacles.
The wild and fascinating Pantelleria, with its underwater caves, hot springs, and the unique Pantelleria Gardens, offers an adventure into Italy’s volcanic beauty, inviting you to explore the island’s ancient constructions.Valletta, Malta perched high on the Sciberras Peninsula, closes our journey with its massive fortifications, lavish palaces, and rich history as a European Capital of Culture. The city’s Baroque wonders, historical intrigue, and strategic Mediterranean positioning make it a fitting culmination to our exploration.

Academic Agenda

At CPE Conferences, our mission is twofold – to deliver high quality academic content from Australian and International specialists in medicine, law and dentistry and to provide access to experts local to the conference destination. Our longstanding tradition has been to push the delegates’ educational boundaries by exploring the conference destination not only through travel, but also through its medical and legal environment and political context.  We do this by arranging local expert speakers and academic field trips and believe this gives learning a new dimension.

The bulk of the academic content consists of leading Australian practitioners presenting on their area of expertise. To provide diversity in our academic agendas, and particularly to enable us to provide unique local experiences, we do not publish the academic agenda in advance. Often local presenters are unable to commit to a specific session time months in advance. We believe (and indeed our feedback reflects) that the local presenters and field trips add immeasurable value to the academic experience and as such we want to preserve our ability to include the local experts. The academic agenda is released on the day of Welcome Drinks, the day before the first academic sessions.

Apply To Speak

We encourage all our delegates to engage with the academic program by applying to present a topic at our conferences for a number reasons. Showcase your recent publication, interesting case, area of expertise or update on an important topic; approved applications receive a discounted registration rate; for some colleges or societies you may attract more CPD points. Our presenters often gain more from the networking aspects of the conference and have frequently been contacted after their presentation for professional development opportunities such as appearing as an expert witness, being briefed on a matter or other general referrals. We have two options when participating in our academic program, a full speaker registration or an Experts’ Forum presentation. Our speaker registration attracts a discounted fee, and requires a minimum of 1 hour presentation. An Experts’ Forum presentation is shorter in duration and does not attract a discount. It is for those wishing to present for a minimum of 20 minutes.
